How You Avoid The Dark Side Of Dentistry

Go for the real smile

Spiders, they keep appearing all around me, crawling over my book. Their eight legs clattering along. Weaving their intricate webs of lies and deceit and so we weave. We spin those webs, casting out our thoughts and feelings. Catching our prey within it. Like the venus fly trap. We send out our scent into the night. Attracting all the honey and when we do and  we get one that sniffs a bit too close, then bang, we snap shut and we keep a tight hold. No way are we letting go of the prey.

Today from where I sit, I see so much. Just look around, GHD straighteners, push up bras, chicken fillets, make up, nail art, teeth whitened, botox. Look different, look younger, look taller. It´s all just a veneer, to just paste over, an image to just fill in and conform to.

Take a trip to the dentist and what happens?

He takes a look inside and whats in there looks dark, a black hole. A quick poke around, a few smoke and mirrors. Then drill and fill a few bits and pieces. The sticking plaster has been stuck in the whole. We look in the mirror and close our mouths. We smile once more through gritted teeth.

Do we like the reflection that stares back at us?

What is actually in that black hole?

If we were to open our mouths and take a proper look? Would it be good or would there be much darkness, much badness.

And so, just like those creepy crawly spiders, it might make you shudder. It may make you want to run away screaming. It may make you want to shut your mouth and not go back to that dentist because, it may cause pain.

The healings didn’t quite happen with a pill and a drill. But that’s OK, you don’t have to look again if you don’t want to, another dentist will do as you ask and fill a few more gaps and not bother to look at the smile within. Or even better, get some veneers and really cover up the truth.

Darkness is not such a bad thing and badness can always be transformed to good if you so choose and are not afraid to face your fears. It isn’t always the easy option short term, but when the same problem repeats itself, then take a look, face your fears and maybe surprise yourself with where you can shine your light and actually allow yourself to see and marvel at your own true smile.

Who needs a dentist?

Well maybe some do and if  he’s the one for you, then brilliant. That’s something that has to be worth truly smiling about. Just this time, your smile is your own and the one smiling back isn’t saying through false teeth, that’s $100 please maam.

Thank you Helen for sharing your opinion.

This way dentistry becomes far more complex than just the normally perceived routine of drill, fill and bill.

Tooth-Organ-Connection

YOUR TEETH and YOUR BODY are CONNECTED

I found this wonderful piece of art on Dr. Poschneider´s web site.

.
.

One of many  stories from my clinic:

.
For many years a patient had suffered from alternating constipation and diarrhoea together with pains in his stomach and large intestine before becoming a patient at my clinic. The initial x-ray showed a large bone loss on the lower right first molar.
This tooth is linked to the large intestine.
The tooth and the abscess were removed, the bone cleaned and some homeopathic remedies injected into this area.
When he came back for checking the healing process only a few days later, his pain was gone as were his constipation and diarrhoea.

.

This gives you a first impression on how your teeth are connected with the rest of your body.

.

.

.
.
If a tooth develops decay and another doesn´t, this isn´t just a case of poor nutrition and bad bushing. Your teeth reflect your physical as well as your emotional conditions. If you look after your teeth well and yet a tooth starts to decay, there could be an emotional issue needing to be resolved.

Root canal treated teeth for example can create disturbing energetic blocks in the body, leading to the interruption of organ function. If a person has a weak internal organ, a root canal performed on the associated meridian tooth could make it considerably more problematic.

Gum disease more harmful than diabetes

Gum Disease is more harmful than Diabetes

.

.

According to new research gum disease carries a higher risk of causing a stroke than diabetes.

People are twice as likely to suffer from a non-fatal stroke as a result of gum disease compared to diabetes.

.

Until recently high blood pressure and diabetes were widely accepted as major risks contributing to non-fatal stroke.

.

.

.

.

The research puts the impact of gum diesease on the same level as high blood pressure as an independent risk factor associated to non-fatal stroke.

Water Fluoridation – The Hidden Dangers

“Some people think of the glass as half full. ...

Image via Wikipedia

Many people believe that fluoridated water is a healthy choice for both adults and children alike. It supposedly prevents cavities, and the government even adds it to many local areas’ drinking water as a way to prevent tooth decay. However, the assumption that fluoride is a great thing to drink on a daily basis is not a good one to make. There are many hidden dangers behind this seemingly innocent chemical additive in our drinking water.

The first thing that needs to be said about the fluoride that is put into our drinking water is that it’s actually a commonly found industrial waste product. The fluoride used for this purpose is actually Hydrofluorosilicic, also known as HFSA. HFSA is too hazardous to dump, and isn’t even cleansed in order to remove arsenic or lead. HFSA raises lead levels in blood, and also raises the levels of mercury, arsenic, and chromium present in bloodstreams. According to the NSF, the most common contaminant in fluoridated water is arsenic. Do you really want to drink industrial waste?

Moreover, the main purpose that government officials supposedly use the process of water fluoridation isn’t actually scientifically proven. Higher levels of lead in the bloodstream actually were linked with a higher rate of cavities in both humans and animals. It increases infertility and genetic decay, increases the chances of hip fractures in the elderly, and even is a suspected carcinogen by many different associations. It’s also worth noting that fluoride has never been approved by the FDA, which still maintains that it isn’t necessarily safe. The bottom line is that fluoridated water is not only a bad idea, it’s downright dangerous.

In order to fully understand how dangerous fluoride is to your health, it’s a good idea to know what some of the other uses can be. Many different companies use fluoride as a rat poison, a pest extermination chemical, and as an herbicide in some cases.

Fluoride is also a carcinogen according to the EPA. The Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of deciding whether or not a chemical is toxic to the environment, and also has a say in waste disposal. The fact that fluoride isn’t considered to be safe in a natural environment is a pretty powerful statement. If it’s not safe in the groundwater, or in oceanwater, it’s not going to be safe in your drinking water. Also, the substance is so corrosive that fluoride would have to be held in a Class 1 toxic waste dump. Class 1 dumps are reserved for only the most toxic, corrosive, and environmentally dangerous chemicals.

Fluoridated water also isn’t even ethical. When the government decides to fluoridate public drinking water, it’s mass medication. Mass medication is a gross violation of human rights, and also takes away the choice that people naturally have when it comes to deciding whether or not they want to ingest this chemical. There isn’t even a reason why water should be fluoridated, since fluoride is naturally found in spinach, fish, apples, and other common foods. The levels of fluoride found in these foods is lower, and also is healthier since it’s from CaF (calcium fluoride) instead of HFSA or NaF (sodium fluoride).

If you care about your teeth, your bones, and your overall wellness, stay away from tap water. Fluoride can cause serious health problems over the course of your life, and it is possible to avoid much of it.

The Philips Blotting Technique

.

About Dr. Joseph Phillips

Dr. Joseph Phillips was a periodontist (a specialist in gum disease). He also taught that gum disease, subsequent surgery and tooth loss were wholly unnecessary if the mouth was cared for properly.

By the late 1960’s Dr Phillips had developed the unique Blotting Brush and the associated method of cleaning: the Blotting Technique.

.

.

The Blotting Brush

The Blotting Brush is designed with four rows of end-rounded textured bristles that have a capillary action that draws plaque and debris from gingival crevices.

The Blotting Technique

The Blotting Technique lifts and holds plaque in the brush so that it can be removed.  Whereas brushing moves this plaque around the mouth and under the gums, the Blotting Technique is the only proven dental hygiene method that actually removes it from the mouth.

Its simplicity and inexpensiveness makes it understandable and affordable for everyone.

How You Brush, Floss and Tongue Scrape

.

What Kind of Toothbrush Should You Choose?

If you have healthy teeth and gums, use any toothbrush you are most comfortable with, but make sure it has a small head.  When suffering from any kind of tooth decay or gum disease we highly recommend you use Dr Phillips’ Blotting Brush.  This will help restore your gums back to health.

Electric toothbrushes are efficient and have small heads to get deeper into the crevices between teeth.

.

How to Brush Your Teeth

The primary reason for cleaning your teeth is to remove plaque before it hardens on the enamel surface of your teeth or in between them.  We know from statistics that a mere 2% of people brush their teeth for longer than one minute!  Some families even share their toothbrush!

Most dentist and hygienist recommend the Bass technique as developed by the ‘Father of Dental Hygiene’ Dr Charles C. Bass.

.

Why Floss Your Teeth?

The purpose of flossing is to eliminate bacteria from the spaces between your teeth. You might think that these spaces in between your teeth are fairly tight. Unfortunately they are not at all for the bacteria. Bacteria are happy thriving in these interdental spaces destroying teeth and gums with their acids.

.

We recommend using dental tape instead of dental floss because it is easier to use, cleans the spaces in between your teeth faster due to its bigger surface. Due to its ribbon-like structure it is less likely to cut your gums.

.

Using a Tongue Scraper properly

Tongue cleaning removes millions of bacteria, decaying food debris, fungi, yeast (e.g. Candida), and dead cells.  Studies have shown that in 80-95% of bad breath originates in the mouth, mainly from material at the back of the tongue.

For best results gently scrape the surface of the tongue from the back to the front.  Run the scraper under the tap after every scrape.

.

NEVER EVER SHARE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH

.

.

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

.

.

.

What is the common therapy for a dead or gangrenous finger or toe?

.

It would be removed. No question asked.

No one would start fiddling around with the nerves, veins or arteries inside.  A surgeon would just cut it off.

.

Hopefully patient and health professionals involved will afterwards address the underlying cause,s.

.

.

Why root canal treatments are performed

.

If the nerve in your tooth is infected, a root canal treatment is often recommended.  This is a non-surgical dental procedure to save extracting the tooth. The treatment consists of removing the infected pulp, cleaning the root channel and sealing it. The treatment is not considered painful but can sometimes be.

.

Although Root Canal treatments are very popular in dentistry, the more you will learn about them, the more you realise that they are often no more than a quick fix approach. The end result could well be worse than the original problem.

.

A Clinic in Switzerland recently found that of the last 150 breast cancer patients treated in this clinic 147 of them (98%) had one or more root canal treated teeth on the same meridian as the original breast cancer tumour.

WHAT TO DO?

One could say there is no perfect solution in regards of root canal treatments  because either you loose a tooth or you may threaten your health. Hence it is down to the individual situation – What medical problems do you suffer from – how old are you – what kind of technique is the dentist able to use, and so forth.

.

Get all the information you can get whether from your dentist, internet or second opinion . You really need to understand what a root canal treatment is and all the consequences of having a root canal treatment done or the tooth extracted!

.

.

Tongue Piercing

.

.

.

PIERCING is cool for teenagers,

.

especially if their parents become upset by it.

.

.

.

.

Thousands of tongue piercings are carried out without any problems.

.

There are some unfortunate and extreme cases reported such as the one of an 18 year old friend of a friend´s son who died after piercing due to septicemia.

.

You may as well experience pain, temporarily impaired speech, loss of taste and numbness.

.

Of all the problems encountered, infection is the most dangerous.

.

.

Just take into account the potential downsides of the procedure. Do your homework and look for a piercing professional.

.

.

The primary function of your tongue is for talking, eating, chewing and swallowing.

.

If you carry out these activities with metal or any other form of jewellery on your tongue, you could easily fracture or chip surrounding tooth enamel.

This may also increase the long term risk of periodontal problems caused by the barbell metal rubbing against the gums.

Barbells have even been known to become loose or unscrewed only to be swallowed or even end up in the lung.

Lazy Man´s Solution for Healthy Teeth

Have you ever dreamed of  a secret  to keep your teeth clean?

.

You are just about to discover your new  best friend!!

.

You won´t believe it!

.

It is  a   S U G A R

.

But not an ordinary one!

.

It´s name is      X Y L I T O L

.

.

.

.

.

Here are just a few benefits of XYLITOL:

.

.

.

  • Xylitol is a natural sweetener with only 40% of it being absorbed and metabolized into energy. Hence you get the sweetness, but only half of the caloric impact

.

  • Xylitol does not increase the insulin production

.

  • Xylitol´s key benefit is to “kill” biofilms

Have you ever experienced   this furry, sticky enamel feeling as you run your tongue alongside your teeth after drinking a Coke? You’re feeling  the effect of too much acidity plus sugar on your teeth. You feel the biofilm!

.

To quote an expert  on microbiology: “The biggest mistake we have made in understanding bacteria that cause disease in humans is to consider them in their individual, free-floating state, rather than as members of a community of bacteria that live within a complex system called a biofilm.”

.

Biofilms cover your teeth and oral cavitiy and other areas in your head (sinuses…). They are perfect hiding places for bacteria. Biofilms allow bacteria to grow. They are  resistant to the natural anti-microbial qualities of saliva and to toothpastes and mouthwashes.

.

Without this protective biofilm, bacteria can not stick to the enamel and release their damaging substances that can cause cavities

.

Our  modern high in sugar diets,  sugar-laden beverages and plenty of snacks are ideal breeding grounds for and sustaining of dental biofilms.

.

A typical “energy drink” contains 18 teaspoons of sugar which equals 72 grams of carbohydrates, or 300 calories!

.

  • Xylitol toothpaste, chewing gum, or pastilles all have an anti-biofilm effect.

.

  • Xylitol fights against gum disease (now the most common cause of tooth loss) because bacteria that initiate gum disease have no place to hide in the gum crevesses

.

  • Xylitol chewing gum makes your teeth  feel smooth and clean.

.

  • Xylitol reduces bad breath

.

  • Xylitol gum and pastilles is given as “dessert” in Finnish schools. They have seen a remarkable reduction in tooth decay.

.

  • Xylitol should be given to young children  to prevent  cavity formation in the first place

.

.

.

A word of caution:

.

.

.

If you still have mercury fillings you should use pastilles rather than chewing gum.

Chewing gum will release even more mercury from your fillings
